Two things to know before transferring mortgaged property into an LLC

Florida charges documentary stamp tax on the outstanding mortgage balance when you deed the property into the LLC — the balance counts as taxable "consideration."
Unlike a revocable living trust, moving mortgaged property into an LLC does not automatically protect you from a due-on-sale call by your lender.
